In order to differentiate the autogenous mill, people often call the grinding mill that needs metal grinding media as common grinding mill, such as ball mill and rod mill. These autogenous mills have their own features, so how to perfectly choose a suitable grinding mill according to the requirement of the ore beneficiation technology on the granularity of the materials to be ground and the features of the raw ores has significant meaning to the improvement of grinding efficiency and the economic effect of the ore beneficiation.
The main features and the application ranges of the common ball mill and rod mill used in ore beneficiation plants are as follows:
1. Grate ball mill. Its unique grate and the elevating bucket in the fan-shaped room realized low-level impressed ore discharging, so that the ore particles that have been ground can be discharged in time, and the qualified particles can be used in the similar conditions. And what is more, the utilization factor represented according to the new specified level takes into consideration of the difference of ore feeding and the granularity of the particles.
2. Over-flow ball mill. Overflow Ball Mill are generally used to grind material 1/4 inch and finer, down to the particle size of 20 to 75 microns. To achieve a reasonable efficiency with ball mills, they must be operated in a closed system, with oversize material continuously being recirculated back into the mill to be reduced. Various classifiers, such as screens, spiral classifiers, cyclones and air classifiers are used for classifying the discharge from ball mills. Ball mill is an efficient tool for grinding many materials into fine powder.
3. Rod mill. The grinding media inside the rod mill is steel ball, so when the steel ball falls down, it will touch the rock materials and grinding the materials with selection. This grinding mill is suitable for coarse grinding or in the gravity plant that requires less over-grinding materials.
